The Academy of Sciences Malaysia

The Academy was established by an act of Parliament in 1995 to pursue, encourage, enhance excellence in the fields of science, engineering and technology for the development of the nation and the benefit of mankind. With membership consisting of notable figures in Malaysian academia, The Academy’s responsibilities include providing advice on scientific matters to the Malaysian government, enhancing the capabilities of the national industry and to facilitate collaborations between Malaysian and international members of academia.

The Academy is represented in the Institution by several of its Fellows who are members of its Advisory Council . The CEO of the Academy is also an ex-officio member of the Advisory Council.
The Embassy of France in Malaysia

France has constantly produced great scientific minds, even before the founding of the Académie des Sciences in 1666. Names such as Descartes, Pascal, Lavoisier and Pasteur carry as much weight now as they do in their times. Their legacies still carry on in the names and traditions of the Grandes Ecoles (the French equivalent to the British Oxbridge or American Ivy League) where subsequent generations of engineers, chemists, physicists and biologists are hewn and shaped.

The Embassy’s ongoing co-operation with the Institution is represented by its science and education attaché, who is an ex-officio member of the Advisory Council.

It is a consensus building platform based on a public-private partnership that develops strategies and pursues implementation through its numerous centres of excellence and partner organisations.

The National STEM Movement

The National STEM Movement was established by passionate academicians from institutions of higher learning who were very concerned about the declining performance in science and mathematics among students in both secondary schools and universities. It's mission is to nurture greater interest and understanding in science and mathematics among students from primary and secondary schools.

The Movement is led by Prof Dato' Dr. Noraini Idris, Deputy VC of Univerisiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI). Supported by fellow academicians, industry partners, teachers and parents, the Movement works very closely with the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE), Ministry of Education (MOE) and Ministry of Science, Technology & Innovation (MOSTI).
