The 2016 Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair
The Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair (KLESF) is an initiative with various programmes and activities that aims to promote interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among primary and secondary school students.
There is increasing concern of the waning interest of school children in science. To help promote interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among primary and secondary school children, in late 2013, the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology (AAET), Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), the Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) and the National Science Centre initiated the Kuala Lumpur Engineering Science Fair (KLESF), a programme with sub-programmes and activities, with the following objectives:
KLESF also supports the “Science to Action (S2A)” initiative launched by the Prime Minister on 1 November 2013 with the objective to enable Malaysia to sustain its growth beyond 2020 through utilization of science and technology.
KLESF Challenge 2016
One of the important components of the fair is School STEM Project Exhibition. Schools from Malaysia and overseas with STEM projects are encouraged to participate as exhibitors by demonstrating their projects to visitors. An international competition, KLESF Challenge 2016 will be held for exhibiting school teams.
The Challenge is opened to all primary and secondary schools and the closing date for registration is on 14th October 2016.
