"Black Hole Theory" by Keith McLachlan

If there is one definitive mystery out there, it would be the black hole. We don't really know what it is, we don't know whats going on inside it, and what happens to things that fall into it.

Keith McLachlan's Black Hole Theory may be closer to science fantasy than science fiction, but unlike the black holes in our real world, his gives us closure.

Mass & Energy: One And The Same

When Albert Einstein posits that energy and matter are one and the same, and one can be converted into the other, most people could not wrap their heads around the idea. They can imagine burning a piece of wood (matter) to get heat and light (energy), but the workings of chemical reactions (in this case oxidization) is well-established. But the idea that the stuff of matter itself (neutrons, electrons, protons) is made of this ethereal, barely-understood thing called energy, flies in the face of conventional wisdom and reasoning.

We've come a long way since then...

How do you photograph something that does not emanate light, and even consumes it with its great gravity? What did we photographed exactly?

But more importantly, how did we do it?

How precious is time? Our lives revolves around it. We never seem to have enough of it. And when we can see the end of it, we grief and lamented on how we could have used it better.

How precious is time? Precious enough to justify stealing it...if we only could!

"Moments" by Brandon Crilly

1/5/2018

By now you should be familiar with the quantum mechanics concept of superposition - where an elementary particle can occupy multiple places at one time; a flip side to this have been a staple of science fiction - occupying multiple periods. Brandon Crilly's Moments is one of those stories, but it makes you think of all those precious moments and missed opportunities.

Although the story is brief, it's depth can be felt by anyone wishing to turn back the clock for a second chance...
